Suspect in Deathbed Robbery Released From Hospital

Marcos Marinoni, the man accused of robbing an elderly woman on her deathbed at East General Hospital, was released from St. Michael’s Hospital Sunday after being treated for minor injuries.
He was set to appear in court at Old City Hall for a 10 a.m. bail hearing, but instead he was treated for facial injuries.
Marinoni will appear in court tomorrow, where he faces charges of conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, theft over $5,000, two counts of theft under $5,000, theft of credit card, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of a credit card obtained by crime and three counts of fraudulent use of a credit card obtained by crime.
On Tuesday evening, Marinoni and 29-year-old Isaac Lewkowicz allegedly stole $7,000 worth of jewelry from Edna Davis, an 83-year-old woman who lay unconscious and dying in her hospital bed.
Her family, including her husband, George, had left the room briefly to buy a coffee.
Police say the pair may be responsible for similar robberies, which have been taking place at GTA hospitals for months.
