Could power lines be causing Toyota troubles?

It’s an interesting new theory about what might be causing Toyotas to speed out of control.

Some think it could be due to power lines.

The suggestion is that high voltage power lines could be creating electromagnetic interference that could be responsible for the sudden acceleration of Toyotas.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration is looking into just that possibility.

See overhead power lines – the big ones – create an electrical field that can mess with electronic devices including, possibility the on-board computer in Toyotas.

Some historical data does suggest that as toyota moved from a mechanical throttle to an electronic throttle by wire system, reports of odd accerlation did go up.

The automaker continues to deny their in-car electronics are behind the sudden acceleration.
