British version of Scrabble changing its rules

You no longer have to be a word geek to beat the know-it-all in your house at Scrabble.
The company behind the classic board game is introducing a new version in the UK, that will allow players to use proper nouns and even words spelled backwards!
It’s an afront to all that is good and decent in the minds of scrabble purists who say you can’t change the rules.
“Come on… we’re bending the rules for Scrabble?,” one Torontonian exclaimed.
But others say they’ve been modifying the game for years – for example, by having theme games.
“We have theme nights; the drinking theme or the party theme… even automobiles. We’ll allow any word in that theme, even slang,” another said.
Some players say they already allow more everyday language.
“It’s changed now with more urbanized and modern words have been kind of inducted into the dictionary so we sometimes use them because of that.”
Sounds redonkulous.
