Uploading photos can identify user location: New study

TORONTO, Ont. – Posting photos online could reveal your location and movements, according to research conducted by an American institute.
Photos and videos uploaded to websites such as Twitter, Craigslist and YouTube may be embedded with coding which can reveal where the picture was taken.
The codes can be easily cracked, and the information can be used to pinpoint a user’s home address, or their movements over a period of weeks or months.
The Toronto Star reported that a young female blogger was tracked down by a stranger following her Foursquare posts, and subsequently sent her a death threat.
