A Seneca College flight instructor, along with two of his students, are dead after a single-engine plane crashed in a farmer’s field north of Pickering.
The students killed in Thursday’s plane crash were Cynthia Hoi-Mei Tsang, 20, and Lloyd Myles Cripps, 20. They were both third-year students. Azizullah Yoosufani, 26, was the instructor.
The four-seater Beechcraft F-33A Bonanza went down near Whitevale Road and Sideline 24 around 7 p.m. Thursday.
Pieces of the small plane were scattered all over the farmer’s field.
The three were on a training flight and were making their way back to Buttonville Airport when they lost contact with air traffic controllers.
Police began the search for the plane after Pearson International Airport called reporting a plane had gone off its radar.
A helicopter found the aircraft in a field.
National Transportation Safety Board investigators are trying to determine what caused the crash.
