It’s a disturbing statistic – more young people die from suicide in Canada than cancer, influenza, aids, birth defects and heart and lung diseases combined.
Every single day there is at least one youth suicide in Canada, and 12 times as many attempt to end their lives.
In the final part of her series ‘Blinded By The Dark’, reporter Avery Haines talks the parents of Alex Herbert, a gifted athlete and promising actor who took his own life at the age of 20. Despite their heartbreak, they are moving forward, working to assure that no other family has to endure a similar loss.
