The death of Mark Dailey at age 57 has left a city in mourning. Those who knew him personally will never forget his quirky sense of humour, generosity and greeting smile. And for those who followed his remarkable career at Citytv, many likely feel like he was an old, trusted friend. He was “The Voice” of Citytv, and a true Toronto icon who will always be remembered.
Here’s some online reaction to his passing:
Broken Hearted
My heart breaks for the “family” at CITY TV and the family at home that Mark has sadly left behind. He was an intregal part of my household for many years and this news has rocked me to the core. May God watch over his “families” and may he welcome Mark with open arms. My sincere condolences go to all who was touched by this gentle giant.

Another Bright Star to Shine Down Upon Us
I always felt confident in the news that Mark shared with us. A true professional, a wonderful sense of humour and someone I looked forward to seeing on City TV every evening. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends, and also his many many fans. Rest in peace.

@CityNews may have lost a great voice, but it will always be a news station you can trust thanks to the history Mark Dailey left behind.

I mourn the loss of a Toronto icon. Mark Dailey was both a gentleman and a fine newsman. He struggled with the cancer, but always gracefully and with humility. He did not let it take him without a fight. He was a constant supporter of the Police Service and was always fair in his reporting. I shall always remember sitting with him the night the L.A. riots started. He already knew then what would happen, a prelude to events that struck this city soon thereafter. An intelligent and honourable man who shall be missed by all who met him. My deepest sympathy to all his friends and family. Mark made a difference, to this City and to all who met him…….perhaps that is the best memorial that anyone can ask for……….Rest in Peace Mark!
