Going green: Toronto marks Earth Day

Many Canadians may be celebrating Good Friday and Passover, but Friday April 22 is also Earth Day.

With Earth Day falling on the statutory holiday, there have been many celebrations in and around Toronto all this week. But there are a few events happening Friday.

Earth Day Concert:

The Music Gallery is hosting a free hydraulophone Earth Day concert, which makes music using water.

Toronto Zoo Party for the Planet:

The Toronto Zoo is hosting an educational program for kids in honour of Earth Day. Free with admission.

Earth Day was founded in 1970 by United States senator Gaylord Nelson. On April 22, 1970, 20 million people observed Earth Day. Today, more than 500 million people in 175 countries take part.
