Leafs sign Mark Owuya to entry level contract

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed goaltender Mark Owuya to a two-year entry level contract, Brian Burke announced Thursday.

Owuya played 32 games this season for Djurgarden of the Swedish Elite League, posting a 2.18 goals against average and a league best .927 goals against average.

In seven playoff games for Djurgarden, the 21-year-old native of Stockholm, Sweden, registered a 1.66 goals against average and a .934 save percentage.

The 6-2, 198-pound goaltender won a silver medal with Sweden at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championships and a bronze medal at the 2007 IIHF World Under-18 Championships.
