Muslims from across the GTA celebrated Eid Al-Adha this past weekend and afterward gathered at the Maple Banquet Hall in Mississauga for a bazaar.
The “Festival of Sacrifice” celebrates Abraham’s willingness to kill his first-born son to prove his loyalty to God, and God’s intervention that saves the son’s life.
It’s also to provide for the poor people. It’s a sharing thing,” organizer Shehla Jafri explained.
“It’s important to have all the community under one roof,” Jafri said.
The banquet hall was packed with vendors selling clothes, jewelry, and food, while other stalls offered henna services.
“It’s really entertaining,” Zakar Hussan said, who went to the bazaar with his wife and son.
“After we went to the mosque we came over here,” he added.
Members of the Pakistan Youth Forum were at the event for a great cause.
“We are collecting donations for the flood victims in Pakistan, and we’re also selling postcards and T-shirts,” Adif Hasan told CityNews.
