Shelters should not euthanize animals: Poll

A new poll shows the majority of pet owners don’t believe shelters should be euthanizing animals except when absolutely necessary.

The Associated Press/Petside.com poll found seven in 10 pet owners think shelters should only put down animals which are too sick to be treated, or too aggressive to be adopted.

Only a quarter of those asked think shelters should sometimes be allowed to put animals to sleep as a population control measure.
