Casino proposed for Toronto

TORONTO, Ont. – Don’t bet against a casino for Toronto.

There’s a report the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation is seriously considering putting a casino at Ontario Place or the Exhibition grounds.

It would mean residents who live nearby would have a very busy new neighbour.

“It will make parking a nightmare, it will make traffic a nightmare,” one resident said.

“I just think that there’s better use of space around here. It’s already pretty dense,” one man said.

However, revenues from a casino could help the province pay off debt and help Toronto pay for new subways.

Councillor Doug Ford told The Globe and Mail the city would support a casino, as long as the public supports it and Toronto gets a piece of the pie.
