SIU probes shooting in Brampton

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in after an undercover police officer allegedly shot a man in Brampton.
It happened around 7 p.m. Friday on Velvet Grass Lane, near Bramalea Road and Bovaird Drive East.
The SIU says police were pursuing an SUV before the man was shot.
“Some plainclothes officers were following the vehicle,” said Carm Piro of the SIU. “A person is now in hospital with a gunshot wound.”
The SIU is an arm’s length agency which investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
