Clocks spring forward this weekend

Bad news for the perennially sleep-deprived: clocks go forward this weekend for daylight saving time.
All provinces except Saskatchewan move their clocks ahead one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday.
The loss of sleep can be hard on the body and make for a more hazardous drive.
Here are some tips from the BCAA Road Safety Foundation to deal with the time change:
- Adjust your sleep patterns before the time change.
- Avoid caffeine or other substances meant to keep you awake. You may feel more tired once the short-term effects wear off.
- For better visibility, drive with your headlights on during the darker morning commute.
- Be aware of more pedestrians taking advantage of the extra daylight in the evenings.
Fire chiefs also say this is a good time for people to change the batteries in their smoke detectors.
