2nd suspect charged after Dawes Road shooting

A 20-year-old man is facing a slew of charges, including attempted murder, after a shooting in Toronto’s east end earlier this month.

A 19-year-old man was shot twice on Dawes Road, near Victoria Park and St. Clair avenues, on Nov. 11. He suffered serious, but non life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested a 16-year-old male days after the shooting and charged him with attempted murder. On Tuesday, police nabbed the second suspect in the Niagara region.

Dwayne Vernal is accused of attempted murder, aggravated assault and seven firearms charges.

He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning.
