Weekend road closures in Toronto

It’s that time of the year again, when weekend events and construction take over Toronto, leading to road closures across the city.

Here are the road closures for Sept. 13-15:

Events

Running Room 5K run (Saturday closure)
Road closures and lane restrictions are scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Route:

  • Starts at Sir Winston Churchill Park
  • Eastbound on St Clair Avenue, All Eastbound Lanes
  • Southbound on Russell Hill Road, Whole Road
  • Westbound on Boulton Drive, Whole Road
  • Westbound on Macpherson Avenue, Westbound Lane
  • Westbound on Davenport Road, Westbound Lane
  • Northbound on Christie Street, Northbound Lane
  • Eastbound on St Clair Avenue to Spadina Road, Eastbound, Curb Lane
  • Eastbound on St Clair Avenue, Spadina Road to Finish Line, All Eastbound Lanes
  • Finishes at Sir Winston Churchill Park

Police say the public are not permitted to park vehicles along the route between 5 a.m. to approximately 9:30 a.m.

Polish Festival (Saturday-Sunday closure)
Roncesvalles Ave. will be closed between Grafton and Boustead avenues from 6 a.m. Sept. 14  to 11 p.m. Sept. 15.
TTC service will be diverted, but will run on Howard Park Ave.

Ukrainian Festival and parade (Friday-Sunday closure)
Bloor St. W., between Jane St. and Glendonwynne Rd., will be closed from 9:30 a.m. Sept. 13 to 11:59 p.m. Sept. 15.    Bloor St. W., between Jane St. and High Park Ave., will be closed on Sept. 14 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Construction work

York and Adelaide streetcar track construction
Streetcar track construction will close the intersection of York and Adelaide streets for a week scheduled to start at 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 14.

The city of Toronto says traffic on Adelaide will be diverted onto University Avenue while traffic on York will be diverted to King Street. Bus routes in the area will be rerouted around the intersection.

Sidewalk traffic will also be affected.

King St. E. bridge repairs
The King St. E. section of the bridge — that carries Queen St. E. across the Don River and Don Valley Parkway — will be closed starting Sept. 9 for repairs. The bridge repairs are expected to be completed in November.

The 503 Kingston Rd. and 504 King streetcars will be on diversion.

Yonge Street watermain replacement
Construction is underway on Yonge Street in North York for watermain replacement work.

During phase one of the project, the southbound curb lane on Yonge between Finch and Kingsdale avenues will be closed. Click here for more details.

Bayview closure for gas pipeline work
Bayview Ave., from River to Lower River streets, is scheduled to be closed for six weeks for work on the Don Valley natural gas pipeline. The closure began on Aug. 6.

Kingston Road construction
Drivers can expect slowdowns in the Kingston Road and Victoria Park Avenue area due to a TTC track reconstruction. Click here for the full story.

Gardiner repairs
Two eastbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway, from Jarvis Street to the Don Roadway, are scheduled to be closed until Dec. 1. Click here for the full story.
