Toronto Maple Leafs to unveil new logo on Tuesday

The wait is almost over.
The Toronto Maple Leafs will unveil a new logo and sweater for the 2016-17 season, the franchise’s centennial anniversary, on Tuesday.
The Maple Leafs’ logo has not undergone a major overhaul since 1970 and the current emblem has been in use since 1987.
Sports uniform authority Chris Creamer reported on his website Sportslogos.net that the new look could be a combination of two logos used in the mid-to-late 1960s.
Toronto has been heavily rumoured as a potential host for the 2017 Winter Classic game.
NHL commissioner Gary Bettman addressed the rumour in a conversation with Sportsnet’s Scott Oake during the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough.
“Obviously Toronto is interested, but we haven’t made any decisions yet,” Bettman said. “There’s a lot of work and planning that goes into committing to one of these events, and we have a long way to go before we’re ready to make an announcement.”
The Maple Leafs currently sit in last place in the Atlantic Division and are tied for last place in the Eastern Conference with a 17-22-9 record.
