If you’re the type of person who loves surprises, and beer, you may want to head to the LCBO store on King Street South in Waterloo.
That’s where a resourceful manager has created the adult version of a surprise party loot bag for beer lovers.
According to the LCBO’s Keeley Rogers, the Mystery Beer bags are generating quite a buzz.
“The idea is it’s an adult grab bag and the excitement is in the mystery that you don’t know what you’re getting,” she told CityNews. “The manager came up with the idea when a case of beer broke and he was left wondering what to do with the singles, and a light bulb went off.”
Each bag contains four to six beers, including local craft beers, and the price is reflective of what’s inside.
“He introduced it two-and-a-half weeks ago and he’s already sold 200 bags,” Rogers said. “So it’s flying off the shelves.”
The manager tested a similar idea with red and white wines, but it wasn’t as popular as the beer bags.
So, will we see this in Toronto?
Rogers stresses it was a manager-led initiative, and there are no plans to expand, but individuals managers can take it upon themselves to introduce the mystery bags in their respective stores if they feel their customers would be receptive.
