Council considering major makeover of Yonge-Dundas Square

By News Staff

There’s no shortage of colourful screens and flashing images around Yonge-Dundas Square. There could be more on the way as city council considers a major makeover of the public gathering space.

If the proposed project is approved, seven new TV screens would be installed. The largest would be 34 square metres.

The company behind the re-design says this will open up new possibilities for showing live sporting events or hosting concerts in the square.

The upgrade would be paid for by a private company but the city expects to receive about $7-million over the next 10 years from ads that will play on the giant screens.
