After more than five years at the helm of the TTC, President and CEO Andy Byford announced Tuesday that he will be be stepping down in December to head up New York City’s transit system.

Once Byford moves on, the TTC’s current Chief Service Officer, Rick Leary, will become acting head of the TTC.
Last year Leary spoke to Cynthia Mulligan about one of his achievements at Toronto’s transit service — reducing short turns on streetcar routes.
