If it feels extra cold on Thursday morning that’s because the GTA is waking up to the coldest morning of the year.
680 NEWS meteorologist Jill Taylor says you really have to bundle up if you’re heading out.
“This morning (is) the coldest so far at -15.6 C. And the temperatures can even drop a little bit more as we approach sunrise,” she explained.
Taylor said to find a colder morning this year you’d have to go back to March 12 where the mercury dipped to -13.4 C.
The City of Toronto remains under an extreme cold weather alert, which was issued on Wednesday and forced the closure of the Holiday Fair in Nathan Phillips Square. There has been no word if the fair will reopen on Thursday.
Extreme cold weather alerts are issued when the temperature is forecast to reach -15 C Celsius or colder, or when the windchill is forecast to reach -20 or colder.
