3 injured after vehicle crashes into Brampton home, catching fire

Three people are in hospital after a vehicle crashed into a home in Brampton and then burst into flames.

The crash happened on Creditview Road, near WIlliams Parkway and Mississauga Road, just before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Peel police said the vehicle was heading north on Creditview, and although there’s no access to Williams Parkway, the vehicle ended up crossing the roadway to the other side of Creditview before hitting the home.

“[The vehicle] went through a fence, crossed Williams Parkway, hit another fence, ended back up on Creditview Road, struck some more vehicles, struck another fence, and ended up striking a house and catching on fire,” Const. Harinder Sohi said.

The three males in the vehicle were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

One other person was treated at the scene for burn injuries to their hand when they helped the people in the vehicle get out.

The residents in the home were not injured.

The driver, a 28-year-old man, has been arrested for impaired driving.

The fire has since been put out, but the vehicle and the house that was hit were damaged.

Deandre Stephenson who lives nearby said he was playing video games when he heard the crash and ran out.

“I rushed outside, came down to the bottom of the street, saw the car on its side in flames. I saw people screaming, ran over there … help the passengers inside come out,” Stephenson said.

He said the driver and one of the passengers managed to get out, but the passenger in the backseat was trapped. Someone managed to break the sunroof and then Stephenson pulled the passenger out.

Stephenson said the people inside the home were trapped inside because the burning car was in front of the residence. He said they went through the back door, hopped the fence into the neighbour’s side and to safety.
