ANOTHER ALLEGED R. KELLY SEX TAPE SURFACES

NEW YORK (AP) — A man cleaning out VHS tapes from his home popped in what he thought was an R. Kelly concert video, only to find what he believes is a tape of R. Kelly sexually abusing girls. Gary Dennis says he doesn’t know Kelly and doesn’t know how he got the tape. He says because there’s also a sports game on the tape, he thinks he may have gotten it from a friend. Dennis made the revelation at a news conference yesterday with attorney Gloria Allred, who represents several women who say they are Kelly’s victims. Allred says the video appears to show a different incident than the ten counts of aggravated sexual abuse Kelly already is facing. Allred says Dennis’ tape has been turned over to law enforcement. Kelly’s attorney, Steve Greenberg, says he has not seen Dennis’ video but he denies it’s Kelly. Attorney Michael Avenatti, who represents other alleged Kelly victims, says he has turned over to prosecutors two videos of Kelly abusing girls.

UNKNOWN PERSON PAYS R. KELLY’S CHILD SUPPORT

CHICAGO (AP) — R. Kelly is out of jail thanks to an anonymous benefactor. An official with the Cook County Sheriff in Illinois says someone who did not want to be publicly identified handed in a check for the full $161,000 in back child support that Kelly needed in order to be released from jail. The section of the bond slip where the person paying writes a name and relationship to the inmate was left blank. Upon his release Saturday, Kelly said, “I promise you, we’re going to straighten all this stuff out.” A judge ordered Kelly into custody last week after he was unable to pay the entire amount he owed. Kelly’s lawyer, Steve Greenberg, says he does not know whether Kelly’s $20,000 a month child support will be reduced, since Kelly is unable to work after aggravated sexual abuse charges were filed against him. Kelly was released from jail last weekend after a suburban Chicago business owner posted Kelly’s $100,000 bail pending the sexual abuse charges.

MICHAEL JACKSON DOCUMENTARY AFFECTS “THE SIMPSONS,” CIRQUE DU SOLEIL, MUSIC SALES

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Michael Jackson’s legacy is taking a hit since the documentary “Leaving Neverland” debuted on HBO last weekend. James L. Brooks, executive producer of “The Simpsons,” tells The Wall Street Journal the show has removed the 1991 episode “Stark Raving Dad” that featured Jackson as a character who meets Homer Simpson in a mental institution. Brooks says fellow producers Matt Groening (GREE’-ning) and Al Jean agreed it felt like “the only choice to make.” The episode will be removed from streaming services and future DVD sets. Meanwhile, Cirque du Soleil (sihrk doo soh-LAY’) has not responded to an online petition calling for the end of its Las Vegas show “Michael Jackson: One.” The petition has gotten several thousand signatures. As for Jackson’s music, that’s a mixed bag, according to Billboard magazine. It reports since the documentary, Jackson’s sales and airplay dipped but streaming of his music is up. “Leaving Neverland” features two men who say Jackson molested them as boys.

DOLLY PARTON, LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA MUSIC USED IN PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGNS

UNDATED (AP) — Dolly Parton and Lin-Manuel Miranda have differing responses to their music being used in political campaigns. Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren recently used Parton’s song “9 to 5” to launch her presidential run, while California Senator Kamala Harris used Miranda’s song “My Shot” from “Hamilton” at her presidential campaign kickoff rally. Parton’s manager, Danny Nozell, tells The Associated Press Parton did not approve using “9 to 5” and generally does not approve requests of a political nature. He did not say whether Parton will file a formal complaint. Warren’s campaign declined comment. Meanwhile, Miranda’s publicist says he is “happy” about Harris using “My Shot.”

CLUB OWNER SUES 21 SAVAGE FOR BREACH OF CONTRACT

ATLANTA (AP) — Like 21 Savage doesn’t have enough on his plate with the possibility of deportment. He’s now being sued for breach of contract over a 2016 club performance. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Sadaetirs Kent Smith is seeking $60,000 for breach of contract and $1 million for emotional distress after she hired him to perform at a club in Hinesville, Georgia, two and a half years ago. Smith says 21 Savage accepted a payment of $16,500 but sneaked out of the club after getting paid and damaged the club as he left. Prosecutors last week rejected her felony case against 21 Savage and she has refiled as a civil case. His lawyer, Dina LaPolt, says, “This is a civil matter and will be handled accordingly.” U.S. Immigration authorities arrested 21 Savage last month, saying he overstayed his visa. He was jailed and released on a $100,000 bond.

BRETT ELDREDGE SEES THE WORLD WHEN HE ABANDONS SMARTPHONE

LONDON (AP) — While smartphones help people communicate with the world, Brett Eldredge found he was a better communicator when he got rid of his. Eldredge says for a few months, he carried a flip phone instead. He says because he wasn’t always checking his phone, he spent more time looking around. That was the inspiration for songs like “Love Someone.” Eldredge says the song is about realizing that sometimes the best kind of love is the kind you don’t overthink.
