Man arrested for attempted murder in Church and Adelaide shooting

Toronto police say they have made an arrest in a shooting that left two men in hospital early Monday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Church and Lombard Streets around 4:15 a.m. Monday after a man was found lying on the sidewalk suffering gunshot wounds.

Paramedics said the man was rushed to a trauma centre in critical condition. A second person suffered serious injuries.

It’s alleged that a vehicle pulled up to a parked vehicle and fired several shots into it, hitting the two men seated inside the car.

One of the occupants of the parked vehicle allegedly returned fire and then fled the scene on foot.

Police identified the man who allegedly fired shots at the first vehicle and a search warrant was issued in the area of Parliament and Gerrard Streets.

A loaded firearm was also allegedly seized.

Malieck Mohamed, 19, of Toronto has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and several firearm offences.

He will appear in court Saturday morning.

On Wednesday, three men were also arrested in connection with the shooting.

Yasin Bassey, 27, Khumane Agil, 40, both of Toronto, and Mohamed Mahdi, 29, of Brampton, each also face charges of unauthorized possession in a motor vehicle, unauthorized possession of a firearm and discharge of a firearm with intent.

A fourth suspect has been identified as as Hassan Hassan, 27, of Toronto. He is wanted for three counts of attempted murder and a number of firearm related charges.
