The City of Mississauga will be going all out to celebrate U.S. Open winner and hometown tennis star Bianca Andreescu this Sunday.

The city has announced they will be hosting a #SheTheNorth rally for the 19-year-old tennis star to celebrate her historic win.

Andreescu became the first Canadian to win a grand slam singles title after beating Serena Williams last Saturday in New York City.

The public rally will take place in Celebration Square starting at 4:30 p.m. and will include the unveiling of a street sign named in honour of Andreescu, called “Andreescu Way.”

City council passed a by-law on Thursday to name a street after her in Mississauga.

Andreescu will also be given a key to the city.
