Mother, child located in Scarborough abduction: police

By News staff

Toronto police say an 18-month-old toddler and her mother have been located following an alleged abduction in Scarborough on Thursday morning.

Around 7:30 a.m., police were called to the area of Silver Star Boulevard and Midland Avenue near Finch Avenue East.

Police said a man drove to the area and was seen yelling at the woman and the toddler. He then allegedly forced them into the car and drove off.

At a news conference, Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu said investigators were in the process of drafting an Amber Alert when the woman and her child were located in Peel Region just before 10 a.m.

She said they are being checked out by paramedics and receiving medical treatment.

Police also said the man and woman are known to each other and that charges are pending against the man.

“The appropriate charges will be laid once investigators speak to the man,” Sidhu said.
