Man facing 2nd-degree murder charge in Annex assault

Toronto police are investigating a death in the Annex neighbourhood of Toronto.

A 51-year-old woman is dead following an assault in the Annex area on Sunday afternoon.

Toronto police were called to a residence in the area of Harbord Street and Brunswick Avenue just after 2 p.m.

The woman suffered injuries to her head and later died in hospital. Police have since identified her as Julie Berman from Toronto.

Police were initially treating the incident as a “suspicious death” and later declared it a homicide.

Colin Harnack, 29, also from Toronto, is facing a charge of second-degree murder.

This is the city’s 72nd homicide of the year.
