Ministry of Labour investigating after fatal industrial accident in Pickering

The Ministry of Labour is investigating after a man was killed and two others injured at an industrial site in Pickering Monday afternoon.

Durham Regional Police said the incident occurred at around 12:40 p.m.

Two of the victims are male, police said. The details surrounding the third worker have not been released.

The ministry said it appears a temporary wall fell at a worksite at Amica Pickering.

“Our thoughts are with the family and colleagues of the workers at this project,” the ministry said.  “Ministry inspectors have been assigned and our investigation is ongoing.”

A man airlifted from a construction site in Pickering on Monday afternoon has since died, say Durham regional police. Another man was rushed to hospital in serious condition. The Ministry of Labour has been called in to investigate.
