13 TTC employees have coronavirus, 240 in self-isolation

In an update Tuesday the TTC says 13 of its employees have confirmed cases of coronavirus and 240 are self-isolation.

The TTC said it is “working with public health officials to make decisions that balance our need to provide service while maintaining the health and safety of our employees.”

As of April 14, 2020, the following employees have tested positive:

• Bus mechanic at Duncan Shop
• Subway operator at Wilson
• Wheel-Trans operator
• Bus technician at the Old Davenport building
• Bus operator at Mt. Dennis
• Station collector from Danforth Division
• Streetcar operator from Roncesvalles Division
• Bus operator at Mt. Dennis
• Wheel-Trans operator
• Staff member from Station Services
• Bus operator at Wilson
• Waste management operator who works in the Building Services Section of Plant Maintenance
• Bus operator at Arrow

The TTC said once it receives news of a confirmed case it immediately contacts Toronto Public Health to “jointly investigate and determine next steps.”

“At every location, we take action to ensure enhanced cleaning measures as recommended by public health officials, such as additional surface cleaning in frequently accessed areas, are undertaken as soon as possible.”
