Unsung Hero: Ritesh Mistry

Dr. Ritesh Mistry is a physician at Brampton Civic Hospital, where he has worked on the covid unit for nine weeks straight.
Mistry admits it is challenging work, and he has witnessed first hand the different ways this virus can manifest itself. One patient, an international student in her early 20’s with no family here in Canada sticks out in his mind. Mistry says she was severely affected by the virus, but he was able to treat her successfully with the help of nurses, as well as physical and occupational therapists. She walked out of the hospital four weeks later.
Mistry has all the makings of a hero, but he doesn’t think so. He claims it’s teamwork and it doesn’t happen without everyone on board.
