1 dead after vehicle crashes into pole in Etobicoke

A 25-year-old man is dead after a vehicle crashed into a pole overnight on Martin Grove Road.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at Gihon Spring Drive, just south of Steeles Avenue, around 11:45 p.m. Thursday.
According to police, a grey Nissan Altima was heading northbound on Martin Grove when it left the roadway and crashed into a pole.
Police said the vehicle hit the pole with such impact that it sheered the car in half. The driver was reportedly ejected from the vehicle.
The driver suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
Police said they believe speed was a factor in the crash.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have video footage of the area at the time of the crash to contact police.
