Pedestrian struck by vehicle near Finch and Kipling

A man is in hospital after being was struck by a vehicle near Finch and Kipling avenues on Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 7 p.m.

Police said a 61-year-old driver was heading eastbound on Finch when his vehicle struck a pedestrian who was jaywalking across the street.

When paramedics arrived at the scene the victim was unresponsive. He was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries, where he went into emergency surgery.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

Police said that despite their best efforts they have been unable to identify the man struck by the car and are asking for the public’s help.

The pedestrian is described as in his late 30s to early 40s, with a brown complexion and of a medium build. He was wearing a gold and brown winter jacket, blue hoodie, and black jeans.

Investigators would also like to speak with anyone who has dashcam or security footage of the area around the time of the incident.
