Pharmacy vaccine locations and what you need to know about booking

The Ontario government is expanding the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines at pharmacies and primary care settings.

As of Friday, March 12, eligible Ontarians between the age of 60 and 64 (year of birth between 1957-1961) can receive the AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD vaccine.

People will have to book appointments to receive the shot.

In an attempt to clear up any confusion vaccine-eager residents may have with regards to who can and cannot get the AstraZeneca shot, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Health says, “you are eligible if you are 60-64 as of the day of vaccination OR, if you will be, or have been, 60-64 in 2021.”

In a press release, over 194,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have arrived in Ontario and select pharmacies can begin booking appointments as of March 10.

Initially, this will only be for those in three Ontario public health regions:

• Toronto
• Windsor-Essex

Eligible adults interested in booking an appointment are encouraged to visit ontario.ca/pharmacycovidvaccine.

“We are about to achieve a major milestone in our battle against COVID-19, by the end of the day we expect to reach the one million mark for doses administered and continue to lead the country in vaccinations completed,” said Premier Ford.

Once supply increases, the province will expand the vaccine rollout to more pharmacies in other regions.

If you are 80 years of age or older not living in a congregate care setting, you may be available to book your appointment through your local public health unit.
