You can catch this rare Flower Moon in Toronto Wednesday if you time it just right

By Denise Andreacchi

Torontonians can catch a rare celestial event Wednesday, if they don’t mind being up before the crack of dawn!

A rare supermoon with the ability to change to the colour red will coincide with a lunar eclipse.

Known as the Flower Moon, because of its spring arrival, this supermoon will have the nearest approach to earth compared to others this year and will appear as the largest Full Moon of 2021.

While here in Canada, we will only get a partial view of the lunar eclipse, you can see the spectacular blood moon for 14 minutes and 30 seconds.

For the best view in the city you’ll want to be elevated and facing southwest. A popular spot is at Downsview Park.

Spanning nearly 300 acres, the park is one of Toronto’s highest points of land, thus making it ideal to view this rare event.
