Where GTA post-secondary institutions stand on mandatory vaccinations

Should post-secondary students be required to get their COVID-19 shot before heading back to campus?
Here’s where post-secondary institutions stand on COVID-19 vaccinations(as of August 23):
Queen’s University
Queen’s University will require the COVID-19 vaccine for all faculty, staff and students who will be on campus this coming academic year. Those who want to be on campus must be fully vaccinated or have a plan to do so by Sept. 7.
The policy will also apply to visitors.
Ryerson University
Ryerson will require all students, staff and faculty to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be on campus. Those who do not wish to disclose their status or are not vaccinated must be tested for COVID-19 in order to come to campus.
University of Toronto
The university will require all students, staff and faculty to show proof-of-vaccination to be on campus. Those who do not show it must complete two rapid COVID-19 tests per week before arriving on campus.
Western University
The university will require all students, staff and faculty to show proof-of-vaccination to be on campus, including those living in residence. Those who do not show it must complete two rapid COVID-19 tests per week before arriving on campus.
The three affiliate colleges at Western, Huron, Kings and Brescia, will have the same COVID-19 vaccine policy.
The university is operate an on-campus vaccination clinic this summer to accommodate first and second doses for students, staff and faculty.
York University
York will require all students, staff and faculty will be required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 this year. They will also be bringing pop-up clinics to campus this summer and are encouraging all students to get fully vaccinated.
Centennial College
Centennial College said they will not make it mandatory to obtain a COVID-19 vaccine before returning to campus in the fall. However, they are still working to determine whether the vaccine will be mandated in specific areas, such as in student residence and in programs with work-integrated learning, such as their nursing program.
George Brown College
George Brown College will require individuals accessing college premises to either provide verification of full vaccination or show evidence of a negative COVID-19 rapid test. The policy is effective starting September 7.
Humber College
Humber College will require proof of full vaccination by October 18, 2021.
All students, employees, contractors, and visitors coming to the college’s campuses or facilities will be required to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated or have received an exemption from the college based on human rights (including medical) or conscientious grounds.
Seneca College
Seneca will require all staff and students to be fully vaccinated in order to come on campus for the fall semester. This includes those living and residences and all employees who work.
Wilfred Laurier University
Laurier will require all students, staff and faculty to be fully vaccinated to come on campus for the school year.
Vaccines had already been mandated for those in residence.
Conestoga College
Conestoga will require students living in residence for the 2021-22 academic year to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Those in residence will be required at minimum to have their first dose of a Health Canada-approved vaccine at least 14 days prior to their move-in date and should aim to be fully vaccinated with two doses.
All those participating in sports will also be required to vaccinated.
University of Waterloo
Waterloo will require all students living in residence to have at least one COVID-19 vaccine and are recommending students get the jab 14 days prior to moving in.
They are also requiring all students to declare their vaccination status by Sept. 1. Anyone who responds “no” or “prefer not to say,” will be required to participate in a rapid antigen screening program twice a week and must continue to have a negative test result to come to campus.
University of Guelph
All students, staff and faculty will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at the University of Guelph.
University of Windsor
Mandatory COVID-19 vaccination will be required for all students, faculty, staff and visitors who attend campus.
Ontario Tech University
The university has mandated vaccines for all individuals coming to campus. They will allow people until Oct. 17 to be fully vaccinated.
Carleton University
Carleton will require all students and staff to have COVID-19 vaccinations to be on campus. You must receive both doses by Oct. 15, first dose by Sept. 10.
University of Ottawa
COVID-19 vaccination will be mandatory for all persons (students, faculty, staff, and visitors) who intend to access the uOttawa campus as of September 7th (first dose) and October 15th (complete vaccination), 2021.
