A two-year-old child has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Brampton.

Peel Regional Police were called to Avondale Boulevard and Autumn Boulevard, just off Bramalea, shortly before 6 p.m. on Wednesday for reports that a pedestrian was hit on a sidewalk.

The child was in a stroller at the time and has been transported to hospital. Paramedics tell CityNews the injuries do not appear to be life-threatening. The gender was not provided.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, police say.

Autumn Boulevard is now closed between Avondale and Anne Court.
