Tony Staffieri appointed as permanent Rogers president and CEO

Rogers Communications announced on Monday that Tony Staffieri has been appointed the new president and CEO of the company.

Staffieri was named interim CEO back in November and will now move into the role without the “interim” tag, effective immediately, the company said in a release.

Staffieri has also been appointed to the Board of Directors.

“The appointment of Tony as President and CEO puts Rogers in a strong position as we prepare for the closing and integration of the Shaw transaction in the first half of 2022,” said Edward Rogers, Chairman of the Board.

“This is a pivotal point in the company’s history and the Board has full confidence in Tony’s ability to lead Rogers as we move forward.”

In a statement, Staffieri said he’s focused on “completing the Shaw transaction” and building shareholder value.

The $26-billion Shaw deal is still awaiting regulatory approvals.

Staffieri replaced Joe Natale, who was ousted after a highly-publicized power struggle that culminated with a judge ruling that Edward Rogers, as chair of the family trust, was permitted to remove and replace five directors.

Staffieri previously spent over nine years as the Chief Financial Officer of Rogers.
