Mamoudou Athie repairs some VHS tapes in Archive 81.

Archive 81 is a new miniseries created by Rebecca Sonnenshine (who produced the Boys and the Vampire Diaries) based on the podcast by the same name. It stars Mamoudou Athie (from the Circle and Sorry for Your Loss) as an archivist tasked with restoring some VHS tapes that were burned in a fire years ago. He has to travel to a remote facility on his own to do so, and when he starts watching the tapes he discovers a woman (played by Dina Shihabi from Altered Carbon and Jack Ryan). She seems to be researching a spooky cult, and whatever she researched may have infected the tapes.

Now, let’s take a look at something else spooky that’s also for the kids!

Drac (Brian Hull) and Monster Johnny (Andy Samberg) in Columbia Pictures’ HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA: TRANSFORMANIA.

Hotel Transylvania: Transformania is the fourth and final film in the Hotel Transylvania franchise. In this film, Adam Sandler takes a nap in his coffin and Brian Hull (a YouTuber and impressionist) steps in to play Dracula. Here, Johnny (played by Andy Samberg from Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) encounters a technology that turns him into a monster, and turns Dracula into a regular human. The two set off for South America to look for a crystal that will allow them to switch back.

The House

Where to watch: Netflix

Now, let’s take a look at some stop-motion!

The House is an animated anthology film about, you guessed it, a house. This film follows the house through three different time periods, and the adventures of various different people living through it. These include a young family who move in shortly after it’s built, a rat redeveloping the house to try to sell it, and a cat renting it out during the end of the world. And no matter what time it is, there’s always something very mysterious going on with the house. The cast includes various people like Matthew Goode (from Watchmen), Mia Goth (from High Life), and Helena Bonham Carter (from the Crown).
