Vaccine Hunters Canada calls it quits as vaccine accessibility grows
After a year of operation, Vaccine Hunters Canada, a non-profit organization that helped eligible Canadians find vaccines is shutting their doors.
The organization announced Saturday they would be shutting down operations exactly one year after starting.
The organization compiled information about COVID vaccines early in the rollout when details were often confusing for many. Information such as eligibility, vaccination locations, and vaccine information was constantly updated and shared by the group.

[CA] Exactly one year to the day we started, we are closing our doors.

The group was run solely by volunteers with no government affiliation. According to the organization’s webpage, the group started with one person looking for available vaccines for loved-ones.
Overtime, more people became interested in the initiative causing the group to “blossom into a 100-person operation of caring volunteers helping people across Canada,” the webpage says.
The Twitter page quickly grew to over 260,000 followers, and although their goodbye letter posted to their website acknowledges the pandemic is not over, they say, ” we are happy that millions of Canadians are fully vaccinated with vaccines now being readily available for anyone who is looking.”
Their social media posting announcing the end of operations was met with applause by citizens, doctors, and government officials commending the valuable work they did.
