Toronto police are looking for at least two suspects after a teenager was stabbed near Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute Monday afternoon.
Police say they received reports of a stabbing in the area of Birchmount Road and Kingston Road before 3:30 p.m.
Inspector Paul Krawczyk says it appears was an interaction between three males on school property, one was taken to hospital, and now police are looking for the two others.
Police tell CityNews a 14-year-old boy was stabbed and suffered minor injuries, and as for suspects, officers say it’s early in the investigation and no descriptions are available. Earlier in the day, police said they knew who they were looking for, but did not provide further details.
A school letter sent to parents confirms the victim is a student there and the stabbing happened around 3:10 p.m., after school hours, so there was no lockdown because staff and students had already left the building.
It also said Toronto District School Board will be available for counselling and support, “this incident may be understandably upsetting for students who saw or heard about what happened.”
Krawczyk says because this did happen on school property, police are asking anyone who may have video footage to contact them, including those with a dashcam camera and driving in the area between 3 o’clock and 3:20 p.m. to contact police.
Anyone who has information about the incident is also asked to contact police.
