One man critically injured in shooting during a robbery in Scarborough

A man in his 60s has suffered critical injuries following a shooting in Scarborough.

Police say two men brandishing guns entered a Rexall drugstore in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Brimley Road just after 8 p.m. and attempted to rob the establishment.

At some point, police say one person was shot. It’s unknown if the victim was a customer or an employee or unrelated to the robbery.

Paramedics tell CityNews they transported one man to a nearby trauma centre in life-threatening condition.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. One of the men was wearing a black hoodie while the other was wearing a grey hoodie.

Police would not say if the incident is related to several other armed robberies reported earlier in the afternoon in North York. In both those cases, no injuries were reported.
