Man in 60s killed in multi-vehicle pileup on Hwy. 401 in Durham Region

A man in his 60s is dead after a multi-vehicle pileup on Highway 401 in Durham Region on Tuesday morning.
The crash happened around 6:30 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway near Holt Road, just east of Highway 418.
OPP say traffic was slowing in the area due to construction when a transport truck collided with vehicles from behind. Seven vehicles were involved in the crash.
The driver of the transport truck, a 64-year-old man from Pickering, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Six others were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the crash.
The westbound 401 remains closed from Bowmanville Avenue to the 418. They expect the highway to reopen around 2 p.m.
