Police charge suspect in fatal Uxbridge stabbing

Durham Regional Police have charged a suspect after a fatal stabbing in Uxbridge last week.
Police were called to a residence on Allbright Road on Thursday just before 9:00 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found a 66-year-old man who had been stabbed. A suspect, who police say was known to the victim, was arrested at the scene.
The victim, later identified as John Genereux, was rushed to a hospital in Toronto with life-threatening injuries. He died on Monday.
Police have charged 37-year-old Matthew Lavis, of Uxbridge, with second-degree murder.
