Suspects sought in violent armed kidnapping attempt in Vaughan

Police in York Region are trying to find two suspects believed to be involved in an armed kidnapping attempt in Vaughan last week.

The alleged incident occurred around 9:50 p.m. on Friday when a man and a woman, both 32, walked out of a restaurant in the area of Weston and Langstaff roads.

The pair approached their vehicle in the plaza parking lot when they were allegedly approached by two men with guns.

The suspects threw the pair to the ground. The man was struck with a gun while the woman was threatened at gunpoint.

Police say the couple were ordered to go with the suspects but were interrupted by restaurant employees and other patrons who came outside after hearing a commotion.

The victims suffered minor injuries. Investigators believe it was a targeted attack.

The suspects fled the scene southbound on Weston Road in a black Mercedes-Benz sedan. The two male suspects were last seen dressed in all black and wearing masks.

Investigators are hoping someone may have dashcam video or other footage of the suspects. Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
