19-year-old man seriously injured in Yonge and Gerrard stabbing, teen arrested

Toronto police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a stabbing downtown that left a 19-year-old man with serious injuries.

Police and paramedics were called to Gerrard Street and O’Keefe Lane near Yonge Street, close to the Toronto Metropolitan University campus, just after 11 a.m. on Thursday.

Paramedics say the 19-year-old was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say he was stabbed in the abdomen and is in stable condition.

It is not yet clear if this was a random attack or if the suspect and the victim knew each other.
