Man arrested for alleged sexual assault, harassment of women on Scarborough trails

Toronto police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman, and harassing others, on trails and at a park in Scarborough.

The first incident took place on Sunday, May 14, at around 1:15 p.m. on the trails at the south end of Chine Drive.

Police say a man emerged from the brush and had a verbal altercation with a woman before allegedly sexually assaulting her.

The man was last seen running toward Brimley Road.

The next day at around 10:30 a.m., police say another woman was walking on the same trails when the suspect allegedly approached her and had a verbal interaction with her that made her feel uncomfortable.

Police now believe the same suspect was involved in a previous incident on April 15 in Scarboro Crescent Park.

Investigators say “the same man approached the woman and had an interaction with her which made her feel uncomfortable.”

The woman fled the area and the man briefly followed her, police said.

On Wednesday police arrested Brenden Herman, 28, of Toronto. He’s charged with sexual assault and criminal harassment.
