York Regional Police said the lockdown was in place at the high school but was lifted just before 11:30 a.m.
“Police cleared the school. There is no risk to public safety,” a police spokesperson said.
It’s unknown if the student was injured inside the school and whether the suspect(s) is a student. The matter is under investigation to determine what happened, the police spokesperson added.
CityNews obtained an email from the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) sent to parents and guardians during the lockdown on Monday.
