Teenage skateboarder critically injured by pickup truck in Durham region

Police say a 16-year-old girl is fighting for her life in hospital after being run over by a vehicle in Uxbridge on Friday night.
Durham Regional Police say they were called to the parking lot at 335 Main Street North just before 6:30 p.m. following a reports someone had been struck by a vehicle. Witnesses tell police the teenage girl was skateboarding behind a silver Dodge pickup truck while holding onto the rear side of the vehicle, near the wheel, when she lost her balance and fell to the ground before being run over by the truck.
The teen was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to a trauma centre in Toronto in life-threatening condition.
The driver of the truck remained on the scene for the investigation.
