Video captures suspects fleeing after two suspicious vehicle fires in Vaughan: police

Police have released security footage that shows two suspects fleeing the area after a pair of vehicles were allegedly set on fire in a residential neighbourhood in Vaughan.

Police have released security footage that shows two suspects fleeing the area after two vehicles were allegedly set on fire in a residential neighbourhood in Vaughan.

Emergency crews were called to a residence on Ironside Drive near Major Mackenzie Drive and Weston Road around 11 p.m. on Feb. 22 after two vehicles caught fire in the driveway.

York Regional Police investigators say when officers arrived on scene, a black 2020 Cadillac XT5 and a white 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan were engulfed in flames.

Residents were home at the time and officers had to evacuate them through the backyard, including a 92-year-old man who fell while exiting the home. He was treated for minor injuries.

Investigators believe the fires were intentionally set.

“Surveillance video shows two suspects in the area at the time and a suspect vehicle, believed to be a grey or blue four-door sedan,” police state in a release.

Police are looking to speak to anyone who noticed suspicious activity or who may have dashcam footage or other video surveillance of the area around the time of the incident.
