A man has died after being shot by a police officer on Monday.
The incident occurred near Warden Avenue and Ellesmere Road just before 3 p.m.
The man was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition, and he later died of his injuries.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says the incident began after multiple 911 calls were made about a man on Ellesmere Road threatening motorists.
Officers responded and found the man in front of a medical building at Ellesmere and Principal Roads. The man allegedly had a hammer.
An officer shot the man, and another officer discharged a conducted energy weapon, according to the SIU.
The SIU is currently working to identify the man and notify his family.
There are multiple road closures in the area.
